Introduction

It is very important to understand eramba’s user interface and how views work, as views are widely used across all modules of the platform to visualize data.

LLMs

Statistically, most people don’t "read" — and certainly don’t fully "understand" — documentation. If you’re planning to take this course be asured you wil get in trouble.

You can use LLMs to clarify doubts from what you "read" to make sure you "understand", you simply need to copy the URL and paste it into your preferred LLM (OpenAI, Gemini, etc.) together with the prompt below:

I’m trying to understand how the user interface works and how it’s implemented in Eramba. This is their documentation. If you’re able to review it, can you answer any quick questions I may have? This is the URL: (paste url here)

If you are somewhat dilligent and careful on your questions you wil get a lot of support from your LLM.

Typical Scenarios

This chapter covers the following topics

  • How to move around the user interface

  • What is a module and how they are structured

  • What are views and how to use them

  • Item Options

Supported Versions

The user interface and views apply to both on-premise and SaaS deployments, as well as Enterprise and Community editions.

Scope

This guide introduces the user interface and explains how to navigate it. Views are used across all modules of eramba, and this guide will help you understand how to use them effectively.

Theory

Dashboard

For more information review the Reporting documentation

After logging into eramba, and once data is available in the system, you will see a landing dashboard populated with charts from various modules, including compliance, risks, controls, policies, and more.

Administrators can customize this dashboard to display specific charts tailored to their needs.eramba offers over 200 charts, providing comprehensive visual insights across all areas of the platform.

User Profile

In the top-right corner, you will find the user settings for your account. From this menu, you can log out or change your password.

Module Sidebar

eramba features different modules in the left sidebar. Clicking on a module will display its sub-modules. The logo at the top can be customized at Settings / Application configuration / Appearance.

Module Tabs

Once you access a module, you will notice at the top that there might be “Tabs,” sometimes one, sometimes more, as in the image below (Audits, Issues, etc.). Each one of these tabs is a sub-module that has a direct relationship with the parent module (Internal Control in the image below).

Module Functionalities

Every module and sub-module has the exact same functionalities. In this module, we explain in detail what they are and what they do.

Add

For more information review the Customisation and CSV Import functionality

The Add button allows you to either add an item manually or import a .CSV file. When clicking the Add button, a form will appear (this form can be customised). When clicking the CSV button, you can download the template, which can then be filled out and imported into Eramba.

Reports

For more information review the Reporting documentation

The Report button allows you to view current available item and module reports. System reports cannot be deleted, but you can create your own reports or duplicate system reports. Only module reports are loaded here; item reports cannot be loaded from this button.

Settings

Some modules, such as Risks, will have a Settings button. These settings are used when a module requires specific configurations or customizations.

Common Features

The Common Features are located in the button with three dots. These features are common across almost all modules in eramba and work the same way in each module. Community does not include most of these features.

Views

Views are the primary way to manage information in eramba. The concept of creating and managing views applies across all modules of the platform. Views are independent within each module and sub-module and can include filters, sorting options, and custom permissions. They can also be exported as .PDF or .CSV files.

Eramba ships with a set of pre-defined views that cannot be modified. If you want to make changes, you will need to create a copy of the default view and modify the copied version.

Shortcuts

Most modules in Eramba are connected to one another. To facilitate navigation between modules, you need to use “Shortcuts.” As shown in the image below, clicking on the number “7” will load the “Audits” for that particular control.

A bottom drawer will be displayed with the 7 audits. You can always open this drawer in a new tab—this will simply load the “Audit” tab with a filter showing only these 7 items (as opposed to all the records that module could hold).

Filter

Filters can be included to a view to display only the information you need. For example instead of listing all items, you might filter by items "Owned" by "You".

You can select from a wide list of fields within the module, as well as related fields from other modules.

Sort

Sorting can be added to a view to order the results by specific columns.

Similar to filters, you can select from a wide list of fields within the modules, as well as related fields from other modules.

Columns

You can select which columns you would like to display or hide in the view.

Columns can also be frozen, allowing them to remain at the beginning of the table as you scroll horizontally.

Search Bar

The search bar can be used to quickly find items. It searches across all the columns currently displayed in the view.

Options

Views have a option menu where you can perform the following actions:

  • Rename – Change the name of the view.

  • Change Permissions – Define which users or groups can edit or see the view.

  • Duplicate – Create a copy of the view.

  • Export – Export the view data as CSV or PDF.

  • Pin – Pin the view so it appears at the view bar.

  • Set as Default (Only You): if selected, this View will be shown by default to you every time you load the module.

  • Set as Default (All Users): if selected, this View will be shown by default to all users every time they load the module (unless they pre-define their Default view)

  • Delete – Delete the view.

Item Menu

When you select an item in a view, a bottom drawer with available actions will appear. The options available for each item may vary depending on the module.

The common actions in the bottom drawer include:

  • Reports – Load item reports.

  • Edit – Modify the selected item.

  • Delete – Remove the selected item.

  • Share – Share the item with other users.

  • View – Open the item on the 'Item Detail' module.

On some modules you can also perform bulk edits when selecting multiple items.

Item "View"

The Item View is where you can add comments and attachments, as well as view all information and activity related to an item. By clicking the bubble icon next to the selection box, you will be redirected to the Item Detail view with a filter applied, showing only comments and attachments in the activity log.

If you click the “View” button in the bottom drawer, you will access the full Item Detail, where you can see all activity related to the item.

The activity reflected here includes: Add, Attachments, Comments, Edits, Notifications, Status Changes, Etc

Similar to views, you can use the search bar, apply filters, and sort entries to easily find specific activities.

You can also load item reports from the left panel, under the Report View tab.

Activity log

Every module in Eramba includes an module Activity Log to track changes to all items on that module items. This Activity Log tracks all items within the module and can be accessed via the Common Features button.
